His initial treatment involved a six-week course of chemotherapy aimed at shrinking the tumor to a size where radiation therapy could be performed. However, the tumors did not respond to the chemotherapy, and a more aggressive treatment is now necessary.

According to Jacobi’s latest update on CaringBridge, Cathcart will start a “definitive treatment” on or about May 1. This treatment will involve seven weeks of radiation therapy, consisting of sessions five days per week with simultaneous chemotherapy in the first, fourth, and seventh week.
