Former juvy probation officer charged for sexual abuse of a minor under 16
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — A former juvenile probation officer is set to make his appearance in court next week, police say, for sexually abusing a preteen over a 6-year period.
Otis Disbennett, 61, is charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16 for sending "sexually explicit images" and having illegal sexual contact with her, according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office says the investigation began in January thanks to a call by an unidentified third party. He was arrested Tuesday morning and posted bail later that day. Little details of the investigation were given.
Disbennett will make his appearance in court on Tuesday. The crime is punishable up to 25 years in prison.
They say the victim is well-known to Disbennett, who worked as a juvenile probation officer in Kuna but left the job about five years ago.
Deputies worry there may be more victims. Anyone with information on Disbennett or other victims please contact detectives at (208) 577-3702 or email jjohnson@adaweb.net.
