A Canyon County Deputy shot a man suspected of shooting someone while driving in Nampa.

It happened around 5 p.m. near Cassia Street and Karcher Road Wednesday. Deputies say earlier, around 3:40 p.m., the man shot another driver near the intersection of Middleton Road and Flamingo Avenue.

The person shot told deputies the car the shooter was in, and when a deputy tried to pull him over, he got out and the deputy shot him.

He was treated at the hospital and released. On Thursday, the Nampa Police Department identified the suspect has 40-year-old Rolando Castillo.

The Critical Incident Task Force will investigate both shootings and the deputy is on administrative leave, per policy.

“This was a tense situation that resulted in a deputy making a split-second decision in the name of public safety," the sheriff's office said.
